European Parkinson Therapy Centre was again nominated as a world centre of excellence for Parkinson Rehabilitation. This came from Consumer groups in the USA. One of them quoted ” The centre is a very professionally run organisation where many treatments for Parkinsons are offered all in one place, in a uniquely warm and therapeutic environment. There are also talks, groups and support for both PwPs and their families/partners. It gave me time and space and tools to deal with Parkinsons that I felt were sorely lacking back home. I stayed on an extra week as I found it so helpful.”
This underlines the centres growing influence accross the world in Parkinson Rehabilitation. “Many centres are taking our core Parkinson themes of RESPECT, EDUCATION, NEURO PHYSIO AND MOTIVATION and one stop Parkinson centre and translating them in their own way… Like near Pisa, they have created a two day program, like in Sweden they have a newly diagnosed program, like the UK where we have had a long relationship with Parkinson UK.
But as one of the group reported.. It is the people that make the difference “A truly wonderful place. The staff are fantastic, and the work done there is brilliant and inspirational.”. It is also the centres intimate knowledge of Parkinson Rehabilitation and Parkinson’s that gives real fealing and meaning to the centre. The founder and still today, the president is a man with Parkinson’s and a mission, passion. He has had Parkinson’s for 22 years, he works every day, has had DBS and other treatments and still is optimistic and full of energy for the Future. “I’ll still be here in 22 years, I am part of the furniture” he jokes.Alexander Reed also hosts the centres hallmark Webinars with leading names (and he knows many) in the Parkinson world.
